Basic Life Support including CPR
First aid skills save lives. The first few minutes following an accident or other emergency are crucial and timely intervention can make all the difference.
Basic Life Support is mainly used on people experiencing cardiac arrest or respiratory failure. It helps to ensure that the right methods of administering medical assistance are provided. Knowing how to help a person is just as crucial in emergencies. It only takes six minutes for the human brain to expire due to lack of oxygen.
Care Certificate training course is for Health Care Assistants and Support Workers to increase knowledge of the responsibilities relating to own care role, as well as relevant legislation. It covers job descriptions, person centred care, understanding code of practices and the basics of government legislation and dealing with conflicts at work.
We support our HCA and Support workers to progress to NVQ all levels and we support them to get the funding for this.
Infection prevention and control
This course defines infection prevention and control and explaining the impact of good and bad infection control. It details the legislation that applies to infection control, the different types of microorganisms, how bacteria are transmitted, the chain of infection among others.
Dementia Awareness
Dementia is a chronic progressive problem of cognition – which is failure of the brain’s functions.
This course gives you an overview of the common types and symptoms of dementia as well as how it can affect the brain in different ways. It covers strategies to use with clients with dementia and dealing with challenging behaviour. The course is intended for anyone who works with or around people that may be suffering with dementia.
This course supports standard 9 of the Care Certificate as well as the Health and Social Care and Dementia Certificate unit on Dementia Awareness.
Medicine
This includes the roles of the people involved, some of the different groups of medicines, providing different levels of support to patients, infection control, label interpretation and much more.
Manual Handling/Moving and Handling
Our mandatory Moving and Handling training course will provide learners with the correct moving and handling techniques you should follow, along with how moving and lifting people could be hazardous to both workers and the service user.
Safeguarding Adults at Risk (Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults)
The risks of abuse and neglect of adults is highlighted, making prospective health care assistant aware of the potential dangers those in their care can face. You’ll learn how to safeguard clients and help ensure their wellbeing, while your responsibilities as a care assistant are made clear, tying into the values of preserving their dignity and rights. You’ll learn how to spot the signs of abuse and neglect while learning more on lodging complaints and whistleblowing.
Health, Safety and Welfare at Work (including RIDDOR)
As an employee, you’ll be responsible for adhering to health and safety legislation in protecting the people you work with.
This entails understanding the broader laws and regulations that govern care work, policies, and procedures, what you and your employer will be responsible for, any special training that might be required is those responsibilities are part of your role, dealing with hazards and risks, managing medications, fire safety, handling hazardous materials and managing stress. Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
Information Governance (including Caldicott Principles, Data Security and GDPR)
Infection Prevention and Control
Deals with how to manage infectious diseases, maintaining clean and sterile working environments, managing chains of infection, your health and hygiene as a carer, health precautions and practicalities like dealing with soiled linen.
